{"id":420476,"date":"2023-10-26T14:29:03","date_gmt":"2023-10-26T19:29:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.destructoid.com\/?p=420476"},"modified":"2023-10-26T14:29:09","modified_gmt":"2023-10-26T19:29:09","slug":"supplice-supplements-itself-with-second-episode","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.destructoid.com\/supplice-supplements-itself-with-second-episode\/","title":{"rendered":"Supplice supplements itself with second episode"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Hyperstrange and Mekworx have announced that the second episode of the Early Access FPS <em>Supplice<\/em> has been released into the wild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you\u2019re not familiar with it, <em>Supplice <\/em>is a new FPS built-in GZDoom. Kind of like <em>Selaco<\/em> but not quite as flashy and also available now. It\u2019s being constructed by prominent <em>Doom <\/em>modders. I have the early access, but I\u2019ve not made it much further than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.destructoid.com\/supplice-raycasts-it-way-to-early-access-on-pc-today\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">the second mission<\/a>. That\u2019s not a condemnation. I just got distracted and haven\u2019t gone back. I guess you could interpret that as a condemnation of my attention span.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new episode boasts five new missions, some new monsters to drill into, and \u201cnew environmental interactions. Whenever someone uses that word, I immediately think of flushing the toilet in <em>Duke Nukem 3D<\/em>. When Mekworx uses it, they mean sucking monsters out of airlocks. Those are two similar concepts, but one is much deadlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Supplice <\/em>follows Zorah Null as she shows up for her first day on a terraforming job to instead find monsters. It\u2019s worth noting that, unlike <em>Doom<\/em>, <em>Supplice <\/em>has more of a narrative, complete with voice acting. Like many retro-inspired shooters, the idea is to blend old and modern design. The fact that it uses an old engine just makes it more convincing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Supplice <\/em>is available <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/1693280\/Supplice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">in Early Access<\/a> for PC already.
