Like the original game, we&#8217;ll be taken back to the Middle East as Basim. We&#8217;ll be exploring a city set around the events of the deadly Zanj Rebellion. Here&#8217;s what we know about the <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Mirage <\/em>country we&#8217;ll be exploring.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.destructoid.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/Assassins-Creed-Mirage-is-in-Iraq.jpg?resize=640%2C360\" alt=\"Assassin's Creed Mirage is in Iraq\" class=\"wp-image-411232\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Image via Ubisoft<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-is-the-assassin-s-creed-mirage-country-featured\">What is the <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Mirage <\/em>country featured?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Mirage<\/em> is set in 9th century Iraq<\/strong>, the latest in the world-traveled <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed<\/em> series, which has seen players visit France, England, Egypt, the United States, and Italy. <em>Mirage<\/em>&#8216;s main hub is based around the country&#8217;s capital, Baghdad, and is set 20 years before <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed: Valhalla<\/em>, which featured Basim as an older NPC. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;Basim is going to be coming from a street thief to a master assassin,&#8221; said narrative director Sarah Beaulieu during the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/SS_khJE0mbQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed <\/em>2022 Showcase video<\/a>. The narrative director also called Baghdad &#8220;beautiful,&#8221; &#8220;vibrant,&#8221; and &#8220;magnificent.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s a very dense city, where you&#8217;re going to meet a lot of different people,&#8221; Beaulieu said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-who-are-we-going-to-meet-in-assassin-s-creed-mirage\">Who are we going to meet in <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed Mirage?<\/em><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Every game in the series has featured historical figures. For example, in <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.destructoid.com\/review-assassins-creed-ii\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Assassin&#8217;s Creed 2<\/a>, <\/em>we met the genius Leonardo di Vinci.
