The Elder Scrolls Online<\/em> (ESO<\/em>) is free on the Epic Games Store right now<\/a>, and it’s a pretty fantastic way to spend this semi-lull gaming period if you aren’t getting\u00a0Pikmin 4<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In case you were wondering, this is considered the “standard” edition of ESO<\/em>\u00a0and includes both the base game and the\u00a0Morrowind<\/em> chapter for $20. The “Necrom” version is $60 and adds in “all previous chapters,” which at this point includes: High Isle, Blackwood, Greymoor, Elsweyr, Summerset<\/em>, and Morrowind<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Is ESO worth playing?<\/h2>\n

Absolutely! Especially<\/em> for free. Although it had its issues at launch, I thoroughly enjoyed running through and exploring this version of the\u00a0Elder Scrolls<\/em> universe, and it’s only expanded since then with numerous quality-of-life patches. Although, you will have to buy\/acquire the expansions that deal with content beyond the base game.<\/p>\n

Does ESO have a mandatory subscription fee?<\/h2>\n

Nope! That’s where this free offer comes in handy.<\/p>\n

There is, however, an “ESO Plus Membership<\/strong>” that you can buy, which has become increasingly popular since Lord of the Rings Online<\/em> (LOTRO) helped usher the scheme into the mainstream MMO scene ages ago.<\/p>\n
